1. Nevis now has new roads in Cox, Barnes Ghuat, Chicken Stone, Cotton Ground, Golden Grove Housing, Jessups Village, Mount Lily, Fountain, Nugents Heights, Stoney Grove and Ramsbury among others. According to the independent Poverty Assessment survey conducted by the Caribbean Development Bank Nevis now has no person in the indigent level, that 88.9% of the people had electricity, 92% had pipe born water, 97.3% used cooking gas and 60% had internet access. Yet still Vance Winkworth Amory at a CCM meeting on Saturday June 6th 2009 had the audacity to say that Nevis is fast becoming the slum of the Caribbean….Imagine Dat!
2. Mark Brantley asked Nevisians not to participate in Federal Elections in 2004. He even left the island in 2004 and refused to vote for Malcom Guisard. Now he is campaigning here, there and everywhere to be elected in the same Federal Elections…Imagine Dat!
3. When NRP decided to build roads in Barnes Ghuat, Jessups, Cotton Ground and Garricks Estate, Mark Brantley got up in the 2006 Budget Debate in his position as Opposition Senator and termed these roads the “Kawaja Road” and intimated that it would only benefit Kawaja and not the residents of Barnes Ghuat, Jessups, Cotton Ground and Garricks Estate. Imagine Dat!
4. When the NRP decided to put in reflectors in the Third Phase of the Island Main Road especially to aid driving at nights, the CCM cursed and said that they should not be in…Imagine Dat!
5. Three years have passed and CCM has not seen it fit to concede defeat in the last Local Elections….Imagine Dat!
6. When NRP made it their policy in August 2006 that teenage mothers should return to school to gain a education to make life better for themselves and their child, the CCM vehemently opposed it….Imagine Dat!
7. When NRP took a policy decision in 2006 to give duty free concessions to local entrepreneurs to aid them in developing their business…the CCM vehemently opposed it with Mark Brantley saying that NRP was giving away Nevis and that they should “done wid de freeness”. Meanwhile the CCM had no problem giving Newfound a 30 year tax holiday even though Newfound were dead broke and to this day has not built a thing even four years after signing the agreement with the CCM Government. Imagine Dat!
8. On Page 8 of Mark Brantley’s 2007 Federal Bi-Election Manifesto, it was stated that he had already secured a commitment for hundreds of thousands of Dollars to be used for the education of children under 16 in Nevis. Almost 2 years have passed and not one single child has benefitted from these supposed funds…..Imagine Dat!
9. Under the CCM Administration, Mark Brantley was appointed as the NIA’s legal consultant to the OAS Geo-Caraibes Legal and Political Team to look after Nevis people’s interests in the matter of Geothermal. However he allowed the draft of geothermal to give almost complete control to St Kitts. If the act had gone through as he had it, St Kitts, and not Nevis would have been benefitting from Nevis’s geothermal energy resource. NRP reworded this agreement to give the NIA and Nevis people full control over the resource. After Mark Brantley was exposed for his folly on Tell Me’s Thursday April 17th 2008 edition, he replied on the Wednesday April 23rd 2008 edition of “On The Mark” saying ‘…Every fibre of my body tells me that the NIA has to be the entity to exercise control over it. That is me talking, not as a lawyer, but as a proud Nevisian. I cannot see any resource being pulled out of Nevis soil, and anybody in St. Kitts telling me that it belongs over there or is under their control. But that is not a legal answer. Your legal answer will have to wait because I will have to see what the Constitution provides in relation to this type of resource, but my answer as a proud Nevisian is that geothermal should belong to the people of Nevis and ought to be under the control of the NIA…” Imagine Dat!
10. Mark Brantley proudly proclaimed at a CCM Public Meeting held at Newcastle early in 2009 that he would proudly follow Vance Amory to the gates of HELL. Imagine Dat!
